Movie Synopsis
Simply Black (2021) is a dark comedy based on a sensitive topic of our society. Jean-Pascal Zadi, a black ambitious struggling actor, tries to find a film role in the industry but finds it hard because of the unopposed labeling of Black people in French cinema.
Being a black man in France, he finds serious issues of racial inequality and discrimination, which are totally opposed to the French slogan of liberty, equality, and fraternity. In order to change this rigid mindset against equality, racial injustice, and partiality, he announces black people’s march and also approaches Black celebrities, but fails to hold the march.
To get back rights for French Black Men, and make them an important part of French society, his struggles are uncanny. He creates political street theater, does protests on roads, dresses as enslaved black people, and even gets arrested by police. With all these efforts and stunts, his videos get viral and influence social media, and make him talk of the shows.
